ACES, the American Copy Editors Society, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) education and membership organization working toward the advancement of copy editors.
ACES came to Spot Color needing a new website that would look better, be more functional, and serve more purposes than their existing site was. Their existing site was too text-heavy, busy and unorganized. Spot’s web design simplified the navigation, made things easier to read and find, and was built in WordPress to be easily editable for the ACES board. Spot also created the functionality to allow multiple bloggers to write on the site and maintain authorship of their posts.
In addition to the main website, Spot also created a mini site to satisfy the needs of ACES’ conferences. The mini site has the functionality to process payments, allow members to register events, and is easily changed to move from event to event.
Above all, Spot Color sought to create a website for ACES that would meet the needs of a large community of volunteer members and board members. As an association that seeks to advocate for students, writers, and others in our community, it was important that the new ACES site be versatile, functional, and of course, visually appealing. Spot worked with the ACES committee to build something together that would serve many purposes and boast well for the organization, and also had the capability to grow with the association as it grows.
